Regional Department of Education – Sofia-city is a Delegated body of Public authority, representing the Ministry of Education and Science at the area of Sofia-city. As a governmental representative on a regional level and on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Science in Bulgaria the main responsibilities of the Department are to provide and ensure the implementation and to develop onward the national educational policies on regional level. Other responsibilities of the Department are to govern the educational institutions and system, as well as to organize, optimize and constantly improve the learning process of pupils, quality of education, and to ensure teacher qualifications in all school institutions if the district of Sofia-city and in accordance with the national curriculum plan. Through implementing control over the regional education institutions, inspection of the learning process, ensuring the improvement of teacher professional development, providing qualification courses and methodological help in all subjects, academic and professional fields, the educational process level is the highest among the other regions in Bulgaria. The school institutions in Sofia-city region are the most prosperous and preferred ones among the educational institutions on a national level. Regarding the school professionals – headmasters, teachers, etc., the Regional Department of Education – Sofia-city has the responsibility to monitor, organize and manage school teacher qualification courses and personal teacher qualifications in order to improve teacher’s professional competences and skills. The staff of the Department includes 30 professionals in all educational subjects. The senior experts representing the Regional Department of Education – Sofia-city, are the best professionals in their subject field with main responsibilities to monitor the educational process, inspect the learning process, to qualify school professionals (including headmasters of the educational institutions) and give guidance for improvement. Regional Department of Education of Sofia-city is responsible for over 580 educational institutions, 19 000 school professionals (headmasters, teachers etc.), over 130 000 learners and their parents in the Sofia-city region. As the teachers are well qualified, The Regional Department of Education – Sofia-city constantly tries to improve and to provide good practices across the school network on a regional level. As a leader among the other Regional Departments of Education – Sofia-city is trying to enhance the natural School Leaders’ performance through establishment of Teacher Leadership; Distributed Leadership for Equity and Learning; ensuring School Autonomy; School Accountability according the rules of the new Bulgarian Educational Law; Promoting collaboration, etc. Supporting all schools in the District of Sofia-city the Regional Department of Education – Sofia-city participates regularly in a variety of educational projects, including validation of informal and non-formal learning in Education and Training. In accordance with the Bulgarian National Development Program in Education – Bulgaria 2020 and with the implementation of the new Bulgarian Educational Law and the Bulgarian National Strategies in education, the Annual Plan of the Regional Department of Education – Sofia-city includes essential National objectives.

KNOW AND CAN ASSOCIATION is NGO, founded in 2007 in Sofia, Bulgaria. It works on national and European projects in educational field. The main goals of the Association are: to elaborate and apply programs developing different skills and good practices, apply modern methods and technologies.
The main activities are: elaboration and management of own projects; participation in national and international projects and programs; organizing and cooperation in implementing regional, local, national and international events of training and educational character; organizing workshops for exchange of ideas and good practices; management and processes and evaluation. The team includes specialists in non-formal trainings, vocational guidance, networking, pedagogy and psychology, mentoring and coaching.

Asociatia pentru Dezvoltare Antreprenoriala, Pregatire Profesionala si Transfer Tehnologic (ADAPT)
The ASSOCIATION for ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPMENT, TRAINING AND TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER or just ADAPT is a non-governmental, no-profit, youth organization.
Our propose is to promote innovative means for modernizing the human resources and the development of the professional training by means of vocational education, adult education, eLearning, ITC, but also formal methods. We also promote social integration and support of young people belonging to not-privileged groups, and develop activities for the empowerment of young people.
ADAPT actively works on local, national and international projects developing innovative youth, adult education programs and VET learning nationwide, for the successful integration in the labor market.
Through our activity we wish to encourage youth initiatives and improve the conditions for youth organizations. Our work is based on the principles of non-formal education, learning-by-experience and intercultural learning.
ADAPT also aims to deliver personalized counseling and guidance, individual support, especially on long term employment opportunities created by structural shifts in the labor market, and to create an efficient economy by encourage entrepreneurship and new skill development.
ADAPT organizes and assists young entrepreneurs and supports collaboration between them.
The organization also works on organizing:

- Skills needs analyses and skills evaluation;
- Counselling and guidance support;
- Training courses;
- Local initiatives;
- Volunteer actions and other activities for young people.
Istituto Statale E.Montale
The Istituto Statale “E. Montale” is a secondary school situated in the industrial and commercial town of Pontedera, in the heart of Tuscany, near the well-known towns of Pisa, Florence and Siena. There are currently 46 classes where the 1,054 pupils – aged between 14 and 19 who come from a variety of backgrounds – are taught by 106 teachers. The curricula follow three paths:
- Liceo delle Scienze Umane, whose broad-based curriculum focuses on the study of Social Sciences and includes Psychology, Pedagogy, Anthropology and Sociology;
- Liceo economico-sociale which introduces the students to subjects related to business law and economics;
- Liceo Linguistico, whose broad and stimulating curriculum includes a wide range of subjects and concentrates on the study of three modern languages through the communicative approach.
All paths are focused on preparing the students for their future, either at University or in the working world, and provide pupils with a wide range of extra -curricular opportunities which enable them to cope with the challenges of our contemporary world. Some of the most significant are:
- Preparatory courses to Examination Boards Certifications: Trinity College of London, Cambridge ESOL (English), Delf (French), Göethe Institut (German), Istituto Cervantes ( Spanish)
- Cultural exchanges, study-stays abroad; E-Twinning and Socrates-Comenius projects
- Work experience placements in environments related to the course of study;
- Preparatory courses for the European Computer Driving Licence;
- Sports groups
In order to meet the individual needs of all pupils so that they benefit a s fully as possible from the education they receive and fulfill their individual potential, we organize various activities, such as: – Reception groups for the first Forms – Learning support for pupils with Special Educational Needs – Lessons of Italian as a foreign language for non-italian students – Afternoon tuition in small groups for general revision or remedial work – Drama club. – Chinese language courses.
Important qualities such as empathy, emotional intelligence, team working and co-operation are best fostered in an environment where boys and girls work together, and where the emphasis is on valuing the individual.
Strojarska tehnička škola Osijek
Mechanical Engineering School is a secondary school located in Osijek, the largest town of the Slavonia region in Croatia. Currently, there are 450 students, between the age of 14 and 19, who are taught by educated and quality staff of approximately 50 teachers and professional associates. The school is divided into two didactic units: 1) Mechanical engineering school with 12 grade departments, and 2) Industrial-crafts school with 12 divisions.
In a technical school, where education lasts for four years, the following professions are taught: a mechanical (computer) engineer, an energy technician and a vehicle service computer technician. Students are taught to perform tasks in designing, preparing and maintaining the production and maintenance of machines and entire drives. With the acquisition of general education, the students are allowed to continue education in the field of technical science, primarily in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering and IT sector.
The common goal of education for all craft professions, that lasts for three years, is to train students for self-conducting jobs for the following occupations: CNC operator, automobile and auto body repair mechanic, heating and air conditioning installer, gas installer, plumber, tinsmith, locksmith.
The importance of practical teaching in the craftsmanship as well as technical occupations is of great importance. Practical lessons for craft professions and workshops in the technical professions are organized and conducted in the school workshops or in companies outside the school, which best combines theory and practice. Through practical teaching students learn about the activities of one company, its organization of work, the function and the equipment of individual departments. Many students, through their conscientious work and dedication during their studies, provide themselves with a job after graduation.
Based on the Companies Act, the Mechanical Engineering School of Osijek has founded the Mechanical Engineering Workshop Ltd., whose activity is the production of metal structures, construction hardware, tools, various metal products, and machining and repair services of machinery and equipment.
Extracurricular activities of the Mechanical Engineering School Osijek show a wide interest of the students besides their profession: drama groups, robotics, IT, sport activities, charity work, students’ cooperative, etc. The school was and is a partner in numerous European projects like Erasmus + (“Math and Motivation”, “Active Citizenship for Sustainable Learning”, “Healthy Minds for Europe”, etc.), Comenius and others that is important not only to acquire new knowledge but to develop important qualities such as tolerance, empathy, self-reliance, creativity, work-ethics and many more.
EPRALIMA_Escola Profissional do Alto Lima, CIPRL
The Ministry of Education homologated EPRALIMA in 1999, as a private non-profit organization. It is composed of three branches: the head-office in Arcos de Valdevez, a branch in Ponte da Barca and another in Ponte de Lima; a Skills Assessment Centre which recognizes, validates and certifies skills giving individuals an opportunity to receive equivalency to grades 4, 6, 9 and 12; and finally a Technical Centre which manages transnational and communitarian projects.
Currently EPRALIMA offers Level II, IV and V courses through the following modalities:
- Adult Education and Training;
- Apprenticeship Courses;
- Certified Training;
- Continuous Training;
- Initial Training;
- Initial Qualification Courses;
- Specialized Technological Training Courses;
- Specialized Training.
Epralima has based its developmental strategy on the preparation of youths and adults towards qualified professions, by developing mechanisms that create closer ties between the school and different economic sectors, in order to achieve a qualified, integrated and entrepreneurial training project, which meets the integrated developmental needs of the country, particularly at the regional and local levels.
Therefore, Epralima’s capacity to contribute towards the preparation of applications is based on the fact that over the years it has affirmed itself as a local development and business oriented entity. Its contribution derives from its core interventions, which pass through the following:
- Development of a partnership working culture at the local, regional, national and community levels;
- Development of innovative actions through the training and promotion of social and business innovation;
